香港保险业联会支持公共运输营办商打击保险诈骗
23/12/2011
The Hong Kong Federation of Insurers (HKFI) today (Friday, 23 December 2011) supported the Taxi & Public Light Bus Concern Group in proactively seeking assistance from the Police to tackle the persistent occurrence of fraudulent claims.
"We commend the latest initiative taken by this concern group. The insurance industry is ready and keen to work with them and all relevant governmental departments to find effective ways to combat fraudulent claims and champerty," said Mr Jimmy Poon, Chairman of the General Insurance Council.
The insurance industry is pleased to see that the Commercial Crime Bureau of the Hong Kong Police Force has set up a dedicated unit to step up cooperation with our member companies in the fight against insurance frauds. As a start, the unit will mainly focus on traffic accidents related cases.
"This is a significant step in our battle against insurance fraud," said Mr Allan Yu, Chairman of the HKFI's Task Force on Insurance Scam. "We hope to see more proactive measures taken to address fraudulent claims in other line of insurance business such as employees' compensation, medical insurance, personal accident, life insurance, etc."
